Director of Operations

Meliteh Recruiting is seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Operations for our client team in Malta. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a proven track record in managing operational efficiency, financial performance, and service quality across multiple restaurant sites both in Malta and internationally.

The Director of Operations will be responsible for the overall operational performance, service standards, compliance, and financial outcomes of all restaurants under their direct management. This role demands strategic oversight, operational excellence, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of brand integrity and service delivery.

Role Requirements:
  • Over 8 years of senior leadership experience in a related industry
  • Deep understanding of industry trends, competition, and the regulatory environment
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills, with a history of professional success
  • Extensive knowledge of operational functions, including finance, customer service, production, and employee management
  • Proven ability to manage operational processes for maximum efficiency and productivity
  • Familiarity with industry regulations and legal guidelines
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, operations management, or a related field
  • Experience in developing budgets and business plans
  • Superior negotiation skills for both internal and external purposes
  • Strong working knowledge of data analysis and performance metrics
  • Right to live and work in Europe
Main Duties:
  • Ensure all restaurants maintain excellent brand standards, embedding company culture, values, and service offerings in all operational practices
  • Regularly audit sites to ensure consistency in brand representation and service quality
  • Lead Profit and Loss (P&L) accountability for all sites, delegating effectively to General Managers to achieve financial targets
  • Review financial statements regularly and collaborate with finance teams to manage debtors and creditors
  • Provide financial insights and strategic direction to drive revenue growth and optimize cost management
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and agree on sales strategies, including setting annual rates and designing special offers
  • Ensure effective communication between operations teams and project management to seamlessly coordinate capital projects, including new openings and refurbishments
  • Utilize data-driven decision-making to enhance restaurant efficiency, continually seeking ways to optimize operations and reduce costs
  • Implement process improvements and innovative solutions to improve overall operational performance
  • Lead initiatives to advise on service and product innovation, continually improving standards and guest experiences
  • Stay updated on industry trends and incorporate relevant innovations into the company’s offerings
  • Monitor guest feedback and ensure swift, effective follow-up by management teams to address issues
  • Use guest feedback to continuously improve service delivery and guest satisfaction
  • Champion quality recruitment practices across all sites, focusing on senior-level hires for new and existing operations
  • Conduct interviews for senior management roles and play a key role in selecting high-impact positions
  • Oversee appraisals and performance management for General Managers, ensuring regular training and development
  • Implement a performance management framework that supports the professional growth of all employees
  • Conduct an annual review of SOPs to ensure alignment with market trends and internal standards
  • Ensure full adherence to SOPs by management teams, providing updates and training as needed
  • Act as a custodian of the company culture and values, promoting and upholding them at all levels of the organization
  • Lead initiatives to enhance employee engagement and morale, fostering a harmonious work environment
  • Ensure full compliance with health & safety, food safety, and other regulatory requirements
  • Conduct regular audits and reviews to ensure all sites adhere to compliance standards
  • Challenge the status quo, driving innovation and improvements in operational quality and efficiency
  • Develop and update brand guidelines to align with the company’s strategic vision and market positioning
