    Merchant Onboarding Specialist

    Meliteh Recruiting is hiring a Merchant Onboarding Specialist for one of our clients, a cutting-edge financial technology company specializing in payment card acquiring. Join their dynamic team on a full-time basis in Malta and play a key role in driving growth within the payments industry. Main Duties: • Lead and manage merchant onboarding cases from application to approval, including document collection, verification, and compliance checks • Apply AML/CTF and card scheme rules to ensure full adherence during onboarding • Review and approve complex/high-risk cases (e.g., gambling, financial services, offshore structures) and escalate when necessary • Liaise with internal stakeholders (Compliance, Risk, Sales, Technology) to resolve issues efficiently • Act as the point of contact for partners and key merchants during onboarding • Maintain accurate onboarding records in Salesforce and ensure audit readiness • Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to junior onboarding specialists • Identify process improvements to increase efficiency while maintaining compliance standards • Support project work, including acquisitions and large-scale re-onboarding exercises Role Requirements: • Residency or valid work permit in Malta is mandatory • 5+ years of experience in merchant onboarding, underwriting, compliance, or related roles within payments, acquiring, EMI, or banking • In-depth understanding of Visa/Mastercard rules, AML requirements, and merchant risk management • Proven track record handling high-risk MCCs (gambling, FX/CFD, crypto, financial services) • Strong knowledge of KYB/KYC, UBO verification, sanctions/PEP screening, and EDD practices • Experience with Salesforce or other onboarding case management systems is an advantage • Excellent communication skills in English (both written and verbal) • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, regulated environment • Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail Benefits Package: • Full-time contract • Hybrid working model • Competitive salary in accordance with qualifications • A unique fintech environment where you are truly appreciated, rewarded, and recognized for your contributions • Wide opportunities for professional growth while working in a dynamic surrounding together with high-level financial professionals • A chance to become a key person in an international company • Private health insurance, other benefits in a constructive and ambitious working environment • Access to events Application Process: • Meliteh Recruiting screening • Client screening • Face-to-face interview We welcome all applications, but please note we will only contact candidates shortlisted in the second round.

This role involves comprehensive financial oversight, reporting directly to the CFO, and contributing to the company's financial performance and strategic planning.
